This forum is lacking in some emotion......
Well okay, what I really mean is that there are some emotions that I can't seem to find the right smiley for:

shocked/surprised:  I guest I can use "O_o", but that's more to me like "what the heck are you talking about" than "holy cow!"  " =8O" is maybe a possibility due to the raised hair, but all that only goes to show that it is not doing a good job representing "scared" either.

LOL:  the ":D" is seriously lacking some teeth.  What kind of laugh is that, which doesn't show teeth?  But I guess it could be hard to fit an opened mouth into such tiny smileys.

disgust:  well, running down the list of the six prototype emotions, I noticed "disgust" is missing its smiley.  But then again, I hope I'd never need to use that in this forum.  ;)  In the meanwhile I guess "O_o" or "X_X" will have to do.  Or is that the purpose of ":x"?

...Well that's it for now I guess.  My top request would be for the "shocked/surprised" smiley.

Aha!  This is another smiley that I found missing while writing here:

sarcasm:  I guess "O_o" kinda works, but I think a true "sarcasm" smiley needs something else.  Maybe rolling eyes or something.

My own?  How does that work?  :???: Do you mean including images as smileys or something?

If you look in the "view all smilies" box when you're typing your post, there's an alternative set of smilies by our very own Mike.

Re: This forum is lacking in some emotion......
I know about that, but they are still the same set of smilies as the old regular tiny ones, just a little bigger and drawn slightly differently.

As they are drawn from the original set, Mike's set is also missing those same emotions/tones that I pointed out above.

Well okay, seems like Mike's set have the addition of "confused".  Whose eyes looks kinda like they are rolling so maybe they can be used for "sarcasm" as well.

I could try drawing my own smilies if DragonsLover actually has a way for me to use them here.  Then again, given my artistic abilities (or lack thereof), the only expression my smilies would invoke is probably either "disgust" or "confused".  ;P

Hey, the smilies surrounded by quotation marks look like they're wearing headphones. "B)"

Teeth? These smilies should look like lemmings. Do you know how a Lemming head looks? Now tell me how to include teeths...
This is why some of them look somewhat the same or look like nothing. I can only handle with the eyes. The mouth is somewhere behind the nose. (If you can call it a nose at all. :P )

Re: This forum is lacking in some emotion......
Hmm, interesting.  Now that I looked at all the large drawings of Lemmings in L1 and L2, none of them has a mouth.

Never noticed before since despite the lack of mouth their faces have always look fairly natural.

Well, so much for showing teeth.  And I guess I might as well abandon the request now, since a face with only half the features can't be expected to support the full range of human emotions.

They also have no actual noses. I think the nose is supposed to be the curve at the bottom of the face (that looks like a chin), so the mouth would be under (or, like Andi said, behind) that.

Here's another one missing from your list:

Patient/Impatient: There are a couple of times I've wanted to use that here, and none of the forum smilies really work well. -_- is what I'm trying to portray but there are no emoticians for it. The nearest match is, say, ">:(", but I see that as more of an annoyed expression, and annoyed is nothing like patient/impatient.

Well... you can use normal smylies with smylies generator or you can, if you have a website, put your smilies on it and then set links to them, no?
